shineBRIGHT was jointly founded by Starpath Dance Academy founder Lindsey Kaplowitz and Starpath teacher Brittany Spartz, both of whom come from extensive dance and childhood development backgrounds.
Founder and CEO
Miss Lindsey has been dancing for 36 years, and teaching for 23 of them. Lindsey started training at a young age with former Radio City Rockette Cheryl Andersen, and then trained with noted instructor Keith Banks as a teenager. Growing up, Lindsey starred in numerous productions of California's Valley Dance Theatre's Nutcracker and participated in many California statewide and nationwide competitions, including Kids Artistic Revue, Showstopper, and Starpower.
Lindsey continued her dance journey in North Carolina at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she served as President, choreographer, and teacher for Blank Canvas, UNC's largest student dance group. After graduation, Lindsey worked for the Carolina Ballet before returning to California to direct, choreograph, and teach at a popular, multi-city dance academy in the San Francisco Bay Area. While there, she planned, coordinated, and successfully executed more than 100 recitals and performances. After returning to North Carolina, she served as a committee member for UNC-Chapel Hill's Endowment for the Arts and danced with members of the acclaimed Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater before opening up Starpath Dance Academy in 2013.
Miss Lindsey's truest passion is sharing the joy of dance with her students and helping them fulfill their potential both inside and outside of the dance studio.
Miss Brittany has been dancing since the age of four. She started competing at the age of 12 in numerous genres of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop, clogging, and musical theatre. Throughout her competitive career she earned numerous awards for solos, duets, and group pieces. During her junior year of high school, Brittany began teaching, where she discovered her true passion.
Brittany attended Meredith College in Raleigh, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, while minoring in Marketing. At Meredith, Brittany was a part of the Meredith Jazz and Tap Company, Meredith Dance Theatre, and served as President of Nu Delta Alpha. While at Meredith, Brittany performed at the American College Dance Festival for three years and was chosen to dance under various guest artists, including Julia Rhoads, Kristin Sudeikis, and Tina Marie Custer. Brittany also received numerous honors from Meredith College faculty, including the Outstanding Leadership and Metamorphosis awards.
Miss Brittany is so excited to share her love of dance in a new way with shineBRIGHT Camp!
