Introducing Professor Pirouette (TM)

Miss Lindsey created the Professor Pirouette (TM) program to engage children in academics through dance! This program follows N.C. Curriculum Standards and will focus on literacy, mathematics and science, and learning grade-specific concepts through dance — moving, reading, choreography, and more.
This program has been in the works for years and we are excited to offer in within our camp curriculum! Here are some examples of the Professor Pirouette curriculum, by grade:

Kindergarten:
- Read dance stories and talk about the characters! Create our own characters and stories!
- Practice writing (and performing) dance-related sight words
First Grade:
- Introduce Fractions with Rhythmical Patterns
- Learn force and motion through dancing!
Second Grade:
- Practice writing our own stories about dance
- Introduction to Poetry and Rhythm
Third Grade:
- Use rhythmical patterns to learn how to work with fractions
- Choreography and formations to explore area and perimeter
Fourth Grade:
- Leg placements likes battemants (kicks) and passes to understand angles
- Writing multiple paragraphs about dance stories, dance recitals, dancers, etc
Fifth Grade:
- Dance research
- Gravity through dancing
